Height Descriptions

The ultimate height varies greatly between individual specimen since many factors influence the plant's growth and health, such as local weather conditions, light levels and soil types.
As a guideline:

Large Trees = over 18m (over 60ft)
Medium Trees = 10 - 18m (35 - 60ft)
Small Trees = up to 10m (up to 35ft)

Large Shrubs = over 3m (over 10ft)
Medium Shrubs = 1,5 - 3m (6 - 10ft)
Small Shrubs = 1 - 1,5m (3 - 6ft)
Dwarf Shrubs = 0,3 - 1m (1 - 3ft)

Hardiness Rating

Applying the new RHS hardiness rating as follows:

H1a - Under glass all year (above 15°C)

H1b - Can be grown outside in the summer (10 - 15°C)

H1c - Can be grown outside in the summer (5 - 10°C)

H2 - Tolerant of low temperatures, but not surviving being frozen (1 to 5°C)

H3 - Hardy in coastal and relatively mild parts of the UK (1 to -5°C)

H4 - Hardy throughout most of the UK (-5 to -10°C)

H5 - Hardy in most places throughout the UK even in severe winters (-10 to -15°C)

H6 - Hardy in all of UK and northern Europe (-15 to -20°C)

H7 - Hardy in the severest European continental climates (below -20°C)
